The Road to SDCC: The Walking Dead

I was there at San Diego Comic-Con 2010 when they unveiled the very first trailer for season one of The Walking Dead on AMC. For those who read the comics, I was also there to see the major uproar at over the surprise, “ending,” to issue #75. SDCC 2010 was a huge milestone for the franchise and, the now co-owner of Image Comics, Robert Kirkman. This year during SDCC 2012 the franchise hits another milestone, with the comic series hitting issue 100 and the show reaching a third season, promising some of the most memorable stories and characters written by Kirkman. The Road to SDCC: Joss Whedon?

The rumor mill for San Diego Comic-Con is vast but I felt this is something so eye-catching you might just want to listen anyway even if it’s dead wrong. Sure, it’s a gamble but for all things related to SDCC, you have to wear the t-shirt saying, “Go Big or Don’t Line Up.” The big buzz? Joss Whedon. The Road to SDCC: Trickster

During last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I heard a lot of buzz over Trickster. From what I could tell, 2011 was it’s first year and it was apparently successful enough to warrant a second venture in the shadow of SDCC. Trickster seems to be the spot for a geniune learning experience about the comic book industry, aiming to be something closer to a colloquium for industry professionals and fans. The Road to SDCC: The Dark Knight Returns

San Diego Comic-Con is known to have some big reveals and chance opportunities to get to see some of the latest and greatest of the industry. Last year we got the chance to see Batman: Year One months ahead of it’s DVD release and before that in 2010 we got to see Batman: Under the Red Hood. The animation division of DC loves to screen it’s big projects at SDCC. This year we’re set  for another Batman title from an even more legendary story: The Dark Knight Returns. The Road to SDCC: Already Thinking of 2013

No one ever really stops planning for San Diego Comic-Con. Before the third day of the event is over, attendees are already thinking of ways to get back and how to secure their ticket. It used to be, “easy” since all that needed to happen was wait in line and grab next year’s 4-day pass. 2011 changed that, and 2012 will have an even more profound change. Come see!

Hall H is the big house at San Diego Comic-Con. Legendary panels, questions, reveals, and even assaults have given that room a larger than life appeal. Last year we had Peter Jackson rush the stage on Steven Spielberg to culminate in one of the biggest moments in SDCC 2011. The Road to SDCC: When Nerds Attack

Going to San Diego Comic-Con is one of the greatest experiences a nerd can have. It’s also one of the greatest endurance trials one can pursue; let alone for journalist. Having only just taken my first steps into the field this year, I get to attend as a member of the press and have the  privilege to cover it for some very cool publications. After collecting myself from the excitment and panic at the scope of this project,  I did the only rational thing I could think of and asked for advice. Here today Barb, the editor-in-chief behind the famous When Nerds Attack, is going to share the secret to her success covering one of the largest and arguably most important conventions of the season. Artists’ Spotlight: Nichol Ashworth

There’s something so funny about meeting people on a plane. The plane rides to and from San Diego Comic Con especially. That’s where I met Nichol Ashworth; at the time I was a newbie to conventions and talked to everyone I met, and she talked to me about her work and some of the things she saw at San Diego. I can safely say she was the very first comic talent I’d ever known and it left a great impression on me. Today she’ll be answering some of my questions about being an artist in the comic book industry and how she’s gotten where she is today. Come see!
